Testing & Commissioning Site

Preliminary engineering for the commissioning track, storage yard and maintenance facility began in Fall 2012, and construction is now complete! We welcomed the public to our Testing & Commissioning Site on August 10, 2013 for a day of streetcar-related fun.

Testing and Commissioning Process

In April and May 2013, the District’s three Inekon streetcar vehicles were transferred to this site in order to begin the testing and commissioning process. The District’s two United Streetcar vehicles were also delivered there from Oregon (our third United Streetcar vehicle is still being manufactured). Testing and commissioning ensures that the streetcars are safe for the public and that their drivers are trained and experienced before service begins. This process is a critical step before the vehicles are transferred to H/Benning for  in-traffic safety testing.  Testing and commissioning activities include:

• First Responder Emergency Training

• System Integration Testing

• Safety Certification

• Vehicle Testing and Commissioning

• Operations and Maintenance Start-Up and Employee Training
