The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is studying the possibility of extending streetcar service at its current planned termini on Benning Road across the Anacostia River, connecting with either the Benning Road or Minnesota Avenue Metro stations.

In Fall 2012, a Feasibility Study examined the engineering possibilities of the Benning Road Extension in advance of a formal environmental study. Materials from the two public meetings held during this study can be found in the Project Library. A formal study report is forthcoming.

In early 2013, a formal National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) study for this extension will begin.
