Public Meeting #1 was held on Wednesday, October 22nd. More information can be found on the project website.

SE/SW is a key component in the Priority Streetcar System (formerly referred as 22-mile system).

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) completed a multi-modal transportation corridor planning study in 2012 that identified some current and future transportation challenges of Southeast/Southwest area, along the Southwest waterfront from 12th Street SE to 14th Street SW and from the Southwest/Southeast Freeway south to the Anacostia River/Washington Channel. The M Street Southeast / Southwest Transportation Planning Study identified the purpose and needs and analyzed how to integrate transit (including streetcar), bicycling and walking with vehicular traffic in this growing section of the District. The Study offers range of alternatives to improve the functionality for all users along the corridor.

DDOT has begun its formal National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process for the Southeast/Southwest project in July 2014. More materials from that project can be found on the project website.
