The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) completed a multi-modal transportation study to identify current and future transportation challenges and ways to address them along M Street SE/SW, along the Southwest waterfront from 12th Street SE to 14th Street SW and from the Southwest/Southeast Freeway south to the Anacostia River/Washington Channel. The study analyzed how to integrate transit (including streetcar), bicycling and walking with motor vehicle traffic in this growing section of the District.

The area of this study encompasses a piece of the streetcar segment in the 22-Mile Priority System labeled “Anacostia Initial Line-M Street-Buzzard Point.”
